Geotechnics and foundation work

In the majority of cases, the easy construction leads to a simpler type of foundation, but the ground conditions must be examined for the best possible solution. A checklist of check-points ought to be examined concerning the set-up place, freezing, subsidence and surface dewatering/rainwater. The basic design is implemented on a system of pressure plates and space frames.

Supporting system

The C10 module system is statically dimensioned for set-ups on one and two floors. The roof of the module is supported by laminated roof beams or 220 edge frames between the module exterior walls that are in the module’s outer edges with a span of around 8.5 m. Between laminated roof beams or 220 edge frame, the roof truss consists of wooden beams. The roof’s laminated roof beams rest on glulam beams in the module’s outer corners or 220 edge frame that rests on walls separating the module. The pillars are in the edge of the floor joist and the load is carried further down to the ground or the lower floor. The framework in the floor joist consists of wooden beams. The floor joist has a steel frame of USP profiles under the surrounding outer edge.

Fire protection

The buildings are considered to be single-floor or two-floor buildings of fire resistance class BR 2. The modules are built with pre-made timber frames with beams and class REI 30 roof construction plus class REI 30 exterior walls. Where appropriate, surface layers in corridors, etc. are made of flame-proof covering using surface layer class I. Evacuation is via evacuation routes to the ground floor and via openable windows. If there is a two-floor construction, evacuation routes are arranged via interior stairwells and exterior steel steps.

Electricity installation

The module is equipped with a Thorsman window sill channel system. The channels are located in offices per window with 4 earthed sockets and empty outlet boxes for data and telecomm-unications. There is a junction exchange per module with circuit breakers for power, lighting and heating. The exterior electricity centre includes circuit breakers, earth fault circuit breaker, electrical sockets, plus room for electricity meter, with a link between the modules via exterior approved rubber cables. Separate link for the lighting by open plan offices or classrooms. There is installation space in corridor ceiling for channels, low voltage and other alarm installations. Empty conduit for fire alarm.


Mechanical inlet/outlet ventilation with heat recovery. Comfort cooling as an option.


Satisfies requirements are in accordance with Swedish building regulations, BBR.


Rooms equipped with two 2 x 36 W fluorescent tube lights fitted into the ceiling. Corridor equipped with recessed fluorescent tube light 1 x 36 W. General lighting is dimensioned for 350 lux.

Environmental assessment and classification

The modules’ material has been checked through “environmental data on building products”, an environmental management system that follows SS-EN 14001. The classification system is built up in accordance with SS-EN ISO 14001 to describe constant improvement.


The modules are heated with protective earth electric radiators that are controlled via an built-in thermostat, plus additional heating via ventilation. If necessary low-temperature radiators.
